A Chapter Ends

A Chapter Ends

It seems that the chapter of my life entitled “Horses” has come to a close. For the first time since I was 14 I’m horseless by choice. My heart was broken when I had to give up TJ and again when it was time for Wyatt to move on last July. Having to put Koko down in November was more than I could handle. Although she was my husband’s horse, she was my little girl for the past 12 1/2 years.  We still had Nick, but Greg had no interest in going to the barn with Koko gone. The reoccurring muscle tear in my right arm prevented me from handing Nick. It wasn’t fair to ask Greg to go to the barn and deal with the colt that I wanted to keep. Another horse gone and another stabbing pain in my heart.

Over the year I’ve learned more from horses than any person could teach, I’ve been injured, I’ve loved, laughed and cried. Horse have brought me great joy, more fun than you could imagine, brought some fabulous people into my life, caused pain and heartache. There’s been ups and downs. I’ve gotten to show and train. I’ve ridden thousands of mile of trails, worked cattle, done gymkhanas. Mostly I’ve gotten to live my dream.

It’s a bitter sweet time in my life. It’s difficult to see all of your tack and equipment on sale sites (https://camerons-equine.myshopify.com). It hurts to see your friends post their horse pictures on social media. In my heart I know I’m doing the right thing. This blog will remain, but I’m not sure if I’ll post more. As this chapter comes to a close, I’m looking forward to the next chapter. You never know what I’ll get into. Thanks for following my blog over the years.
